Shueisha launched MangaPlus, an online manga platform, on January 1, 2019. This manga service lets people from all over the world (except China, Japan, and South Korea) read manga for free, mainly in English and Spanish, though not every chapter. They already had their manga services, like Shonen Jump+, so they didn’t want to switch. Even though MangaPlus says it has free manga, the only free chapters for most of the manga on the site are the first and last three. Because of the licenses for some manga, the chapters are only free on MangaPlus for a limited time. So, if you want to read the whole manga for free, you have to read the last 3 chapters before they are hidden for the next chapter.
When it first launched, Mangaplus one piece was only available in English. Soon after, many languages were added, including Spanish in 2019, Thai in 2019, Indonesian in 2021, Portuguese in 2021, Russian in 2021, and French in 2021. But not all manga titles are available in these languages. At the time of this review, there were only 71, 11, 10, 7, 5, 4, and 4 manga titles in Spanish, Russian, French, Thai, Indonesian, and Portuguese, respectively.
Shueisha’s first service to reach outside of Japan was MangaPlus. It redesigned its Discord server and web app, which came out in 2021 and 2022.

Is MangaPlus legal to use?
MangaPlus is a site for reading manga that is completely legal because it is run by the publisher Shueisha, which works with many manga authors to publish and sell their service. This service only updates the manga they own, which they follow closely to the license. In a short period, MangaPlus makes the new manga available on the web and in its app on the same day as in Japan. MangaPlus doesn’t let readers download their content, so no one can download and share them. When you read manga on MangaPlus, you are helping Shueisha publishers and the authors. The first thing I noticed about MangaPlus is that it looks very sleek, and it doesn’t take long for the page, app, and manga to load. There are also a lot of other cool features about them. Let’s move on to a more detailed review, shall we?
1. Safety
As we’ve already said, MangaPlus is very safe because it doesn’t keep your personal information and doesn’t cost you anything. It was made by Shueisha, the world’s largest manga publisher.
2. A library of content
Only 126 manga are available on MangaPlus, which I think is a small amount for a website about manga. Their manga is in many different genres, like romance, school, action, fiction, comedy, and more. As was already said, not every manga is translated into languages other than English.
3. Resolution
No matter if you read manga on your computer or your phone, the images are always of the highest quality. You can also change the reading direction from vertical to horizontal and the page resolution from low to medium to high. If you want to zoom in on a page, you can pinch to zoom on your phone’s screen or your laptop’s touchpad.
4. The experience of reading
As I said above, I had no trouble reading One Piece on MangaPlus on either my phone or my laptop. There was no lagging or buffering. The website itself also loads pretty fast. On each manga page, a bubble button lets you share your thoughts with other readers using the mobile app. But unfortunately, the website has turned off this comment feature, so you can only read the discussions. Since a lot of people read manga on Mangaplus shueisha, there are a lot of comments, which I’m sure will make your reading experience a lot better. You can also jump the chapter button on the page to go to a different chapter in the middle of your read.
5. Updates
MangaPlus updates new manga every day, and the new ones will be at the top of the homepage. Even though the chapters will be taken down after a while, One piece mangaplus makes sure that readers never miss a chapter by keeping the schedule for each manga up to date.
6. User Interface
The design of MangaPlus UX/UI is very simple, fast, and sleek. Its main color is black, which makes the other colors in the manga stand out. At the top of the main homepage is a slide you can click on to see what events, campaigns, or new series are going on. You will see the Daily Updates, Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump Plus, Others, Re-edition, Comedy, and the footer as you scroll down. When you click on a manga, you will be taken to a page with all the information about it, including the manga’s author, summary, available languages, update schedule, chapter list, and “Add to Favorites” button.
A big plus for MangaPlus is that the information is well-organized and easy to follow.
7. Pop-ups and ads
During my test of the site and the mobile app, the ads didn’t bother me because they didn’t get in the way of what I was reading. They are still pictures on the main page that you can click on to go to a real website for some random brands, not malicious ones. Also, MangaPlus’s only pop-up is a notice about a campaign or event, which is useful for its users.
Overall, I’ve had a great time with Mangaplus my hero. I love its website and app, and I’ll definitely use it again to read manga. Even though there aren’t that many manga out there (only 126 at the time I wrote this review), I think it will take a while to read them all. By that time, MANGA Plus would have already uploaded more manga for us to read. Also, it is legal and safe to read all of their manga.
